Connecting a Device or Game Console to ResNet

To connect your device or game console to ResNet, do the following, after plugging in via ethernet:

  1. Plug your gaming console into wall jack.  Try to access the internet with the device so that the mac address gets noticed by the network. 
  2. Go to res.emich.edu in your web browser. 
  3. Click on Register your Game Console on EMU's Network.
  4. Enter your my.emich username and password.
  5. Enter your MAC address of your device in the "MAC" field.  It should be in the following format (sans quotes):  "XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX".  To find the MAC address of your device, see the corresponding section below or consult your hardware documentation.
  6. Select the Device Type.
  7. Click Register.
  8. Your console should then be registered on the network.  It is recommended that you power down the device and start it back up again before connecting online.

To find the MAC address of your PlayStation 2, do the following:
1.  Install the network adapter by following the instructions included with the device.
2.  Load the Network Adapter Startup Disc.
3.  Select "ISP Setup" and press "X".
4.  Accept the license agreement.
5.  Choose "Local Area Network (LAN)" and press "X".
6.  Select "Automatic Configuration" and press "X".
7.  Select "Advanced" and press "X".
8.  On the following screen, it should list the MAC Address for your PlayStation 2.

To find the MAC address of your XBox, do the following:
1.  Power on your XBox without a game disc.
2.  Choose "Settings" from the menu.
3.  Choose "Network Settings" from the next menu.
4.  In the bottom right box, it should list your MAC Address.

To find the MAC address of your Xbox 360, do the following:
1.  Go to the "System" area of the Xbox Dashboard.
2.  Select "Network Settings."
3.  Select "Edit Settings."
4.  From "Additional Settings," select "Advanced Settings."
5.  Your device's MAC Address should be listed on the bottom of the screen.
